When first opened the Activity statements page shows unlodged activity statements for all agents in the current tax ledger. The Tasks provided assist with managing electronic activity statements.
By default the Activity statement table lists:
Return Name | Click the Return Name to open the return in Tax. Locate the activity statement under Business Activity Statement (GA) under ATO Forms on the Tasks bar. Click the activity statement to open it in Tax. |
Client Code | Click the Client Code to open the Client page. |
DIN | The Document Identification Number for the activity statement. |
Form Type | The type of return (GA, GB, GI, GR). |
Period Start | The start date for the period which the activity statement covers. |
Period End | The end date for the period which the activity statement covers. |
Status | Shows either ‘not lodged’ or ‘lodged’. |
Due Date | This is the official due date which is closest to the Period End date. |
Date Lodged | The date on which the business activity statement was lodged. |
Payable / Refundable | The amount of tax payable or refundable as calculated by the business activity statement. |
Agent | The ELS registration number provided to the agent by the ATO. |
The right-click menu filters the activity statements:
to show data for All agents or select an agent.
to include data from the Prior Year (2013) or Current Year (2014).
according to your current system time, when you select a Range:
September quarter
December quarter
March quarter
June quarter
Last month or
ALL (no filter applied).
to show those the Status ‘lodged’ or ‘not lodged’.
Reports Tasks
These tasks involve AS and OM reports requested on an Agent Report Request (RR). The process is made simpler by pre-filling and filtering for relevant information. The tasks are:
Request solicited report (AS) — This function prepares a Form RR requesting one solicited report. The default report is set as the ATO Activity Statement Client List (AS). This report identifies your clients who need to have their BAS or IAS payer details updated on the Return Properties General tab.
Request unsolicited report (OM) — This function prepares a Form RR to request one unsolicited report. The default report is set as the ATO Activity Statement Summary Report (OM). This report identifies your clients who don’t have a lodged activity statement in Tax that matches the DIN number recorded at the ATO.
Retrieve reports — This function retrieves any reports available for the agent selected.
Review reports — This function allows you to select a report from the types listed. As well as AS and OM you can also review reports generated from within Tax including Due Report, Lodgment Report and Lodgement Status (State) Report.
Preparation Tasks
These tasks are designed specifically for the AI/AB reports for your BAS/IAS clients who lodge via ELS. These tasks allow you to:
Retrieve BAS/IAS (AB/AI) — This function connects to ATO to retrieve reports ready for download. This will collect for you any Outgoing Business or Instalment Activity Statement reports that are ready for the agent you selected.
Review BAS/IAS (AB/AI) — You can select an AI or AB report from those previously downloaded for the selected agent. The main purpose is to Print ATO report and review it for accuracy. If the report is adequately reviewed you can use the next task to Generate BAS/IAS for this report.
Generate BAS/IAS (AB/AI) — You can select an AI or AB report from those previously downloaded for the selected agent. The main purpose is to Update/Create schedule for ATO report. This routine creates Activity Statements from information in the ATO Report and will overwrite existing schedule if so selected. This routine records an Audit Trail of changes.
Import data from Banklink/GST — This function is intended to update existing Activity Statements with data from a Banklink file.
With a client return already open, this routine can be accessed from the menu selection Utilities > Import > Banklink/GST.Print facsimile batch — For the client or clients selected, this function prints a facsimile of the selected Activity Statements. The standard Print job for this function is FACS to generate the Tax Office copy pdf style of report. The installation of this software adds this new Print Job to your system. If you already have a Print Job called FACS check that it has the Tax Office copy pdf attribute selected.
Lodgment Tasks
These tasks allow you to:
Update agent details — This task opens Maintenance > Agent to show the list of agents. See Adding and editing agencies. If your practice only has the Agent setup in Tax under Utilities > Control Record the list of agents will be blank.
Select for ELS Output — This tasks opens the Tag for ELS dialog to select returns to added to the Output file for transmission to the ATO.
Update status — The status of the Activity Statement can be set to ‘lodged’ or ‘not lodged’. Activity statements that have passed [F3] Validation and are therefore ready for lodgment will show a green tick.
