  • Click Get started
  • Re-enter your password and click Sign in.
  • Choose Mobile app then click Next.
  • Choose your operating system, then click OK I've downloaded the app.
  • Open the authenticator app on your device and add a new account. If you have trouble, see the app's help.
  • If your app allows you to set up 2FA by scanning a barcode in the app, choose that option and scan the QR code that's displayed on the MYOB screen. The below is a sample only.
  • If you can't scan the QR code, your app will have an option that lets you manually type a code instead. To do this, click Can't scan with QR code? on the MYOB page and enter the code that appears into the app.
  • Once you've scanned the QR code or manually entered the MYOB code, a code will appear in your app. Type this into the Enter the code field on the MYOB page and click Continue.
  • Click Download 10 backup codes, and save the file somewhere safe.
    These codes will help you sign into your account if you lose access to your device. Learn more about using your backup codes.
  • Click Finish and sign in.
  • What happens now?

    From now on, when you sign in you'll be asked to enter an authentication code from the app on your new phone. If you don't want to do this every time, next time you sign in tick the box that says Trust this device for 30 days.

    The app on your old phone will no longer be linked to your MYOB software.

    Two-factor authentication (2FA) codes can be generated via email, an authenticator app on a moblie device, like a phone or tablet, or via an SMS (mobile phone only).

    If you've been receiving 2FA codes via email and you'd like to change to an authenticator app or SMS, see Switching between email and app two-factor authentication.

    But if you already use a mobile device for 2FA codes, but now you have a new device, here's how to set it up.

    SMS 2FA

    We're excited to be gradually rolling out SMS 2FA, but you'll only be able to set it up or switch to it if you're prompted to do so.

    Choose your scenario to get started.

  • When you receive your recovery email
  • Follow the steps in the email to sign in.
  • Click I have a new phone and I need to set up 2FA.
  • Click Continue to begin setting up your new device.
  • Choose the type of device you're setting up (iOS, Android or Windows) and download the authenticator app.

    1. Log into My Account (myaccount.myob.com).
    2. Verify your account using the verification code from your old device or by using a backup code.
    3. Click Account security from the drop-down menu under your name (in the top right of My Account) to open the Account security page.


    4. Click Change your 2FA device or Change 2FA. Then, follow the relevant steps below to set up 2FA on a new device.

      The options that appear on Account security page depends on the version of 2FA you're using. If you don't see either of these options this option it means you're not set up for 2FA. Click Add 2FA and follow the prompts to set it up.
    5. Choose which authentication method you want to use on your phone. Click Authenticator app or SMS. Then follow the relevant steps below to set up Authenticator app or SMS 2FA.

    1. Re-enter your password and click Sign in.

    2. If prompted, enter and verify the authentication code from your current 2FA app.
    3. Click Continue.
    4. If prompted, choose the type of device you're setting up (iOS, Android or Windows).
    5. If you don't already have an authenticator app, download Authy (or another equivalent app) from your mobile's app store. Here's some popular apps:

    6. Download the authenticator app on your new device. Once you've done this, you need to link the app to your MYOB account.
    7. If prompted, on the MYOB page choose your operating system and click Next.
    8. Click OK I've downloaded the app.
    9. If your app allows you to set up 2FA by scanning a barcode in the app, choose that option and scan the QR code that's displayed on the MYOB page.
    10. If you can't scan the QR code, your app will have an option that lets you manually type a code instead. To do this, click Can't scan the QR code? on the MYOB page and enter the code that appears into the app.
    11. Once you've scanned the QR code or manually entered the MYOB code, a code will appear in your app. Type this into the Enter your code field on the MYOB page and click Continue.
    12. On the Save a recovery code page, click Copy code to save your recovery code.
    13. Click I've saved a copy of this code and then click Continue.
    14. (Important) Save your recovery code /backup codes somewhere safe. This will give you give you the ability to sign into your account if you lose access to your device.
    15. Once you've completed switching your device, the Account security page appears with your updated 2FA settings.
  • Log into My Account (myaccount.myob.com).
  • Verify your account as follows:
  • Click Don't have your code? Try another way.
  • Click Email me a recovery code.

    1. Re-enter your password and click Sign in.
    2. If prompted, enter the authentication code from your current 2FA app and click Continue.
    3. Click SMS.
    4. Enter your phone number and click ContinueEnter your phone number. You can leave off the leading zero of your phone number if you want.
    5. Click Continue. MYOB sends a 6-digit code to your phone.

    6. Copy the code we sent to your phone and enter it in the Enter the 6-digit code field.

    7. Click Verify code.
    8. Copy and save the recovery code then click I've saved a copy of this code.
    9. Click Continue.
    10. Once you've completed switching your device, the Account security page appears with your updated 2FA settings.

      If you didn't receive a code, click Resend to receive another code. 

    2. Click Verify code. If the code is invalid, check that you've entered the code correctly.

    1. Open the Google Play or App Store app on your phone.
    2. Search for "Google Authenticator" and look for this icon:

    3. Download and install Google Authenticator onto your phone.

    2. Search for Microsoft Authenticator and look for this icon:

    3. Download and install the application onto your phone.

    Once you've installed the authenticator app on your device, you need to link the app to your MYOB account.

    1. If you're still having trouble verifying or receiving a code by SMS, you can click Try another method and follow the steps in 'Set up authenticator app 2FA on a new device' above to use an authenticator app instead.

    2. On the Save a recovery code page, click Copy code and save your recovery code somewhere other than your phone. You can use this code to log in when you don't have your phone.
    3. Click Continue. The Account security page appears with your updated 2FA settings.

    titleHow do I change my 2FA email address?

    If you use email 2FA, your verification codes are sent to the email address you use to sign into your MYOB software. If you want to change this address, you'll need to update your login details.

    If you don't have access to your old email account, contact us and we'll be glad to help.

    1. Sign in to my.MYOB with your current email address and password (sign in here: Australia | New Zealand).
    2. If prompted, enter your 2FA verification code.
    3. Go to the My Account menu at the top of the screen and choose Change Login.
    4. Update your login.

    titleHow do I change my sign-in password?

    You can change your sign-in password in My Account.

    1. Log into My Account (myaccount.myob.com).
    2. Verify your account using the verification code from your old device or by using a backup code or recovery code.
    3. Click Account security from the drop-down menu under your name (in the top right of My Account) to open the Account security page.
    4. Click Change password. A link to change your password is sent to your email address. Click this link to open the Change your password page:
    5. Enter and re-enter your new password and click Reset password.
