Whenever AccountRight encounters an error, the first thing you should do is check your company file for errors by optimising and verifying your file (File > Optimise Company File and File > Verify Company File). If this isn't possible, or issues are found which you can't fix, the MYOB Data File Repair Team is here to help ((Australia | New Zealand).
Possible solutions to this error
- Make sure you're using the latest video and display drivers (check the manufacturer's website for the latest drivers).
- Try changing your screen's display setting (the minimum screen resolution for AccountRight v19 is 800 X 600).
- Check for Windows updates to see if there's any Important or Optional updates that need to be installed (this might also identify updated display drivers).
- Restore your most recent backup. The error may be due to a recent corruption in your company file. By restoring your most recent backup, the error may be resolved. Unfortunately this means you will need to re-enter all transactions since the backup was created.
Using Window 8?
There's a Microsoft update you can download which our testing has shown can fix this issue. But first you'll need to check your Windows 8 version.
Here's what to do:
To check your Windows version, simultaneously press the Windows and Pause keys on your keyboard. The System window appears and has information about your Windows version.
This example shows it's a 32-bit version.
Take note of whether yours is a 32-bit or 64-bit version, then download the applicable update in the next task.
Once you know whether you're using a 32- or 64-bit version of Windows 8 (as described above), you can download and install the applicable update from Microsoft.
To do this:
- Close all programs including AccountRight.
- Depending on your Windows 8 version (32- or 64-bit), click the applicable link below to go to the Microsoft Download Centre:
- For 64-bit versions: http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=34908
- For 32-bit versions: http://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=34879
- Click Download.
- Select the applicable file then click Next.
- For 64-bit versions, the required file is Windows8-RT-KB2756872-x64.msu as shown below:
- For 32-bit versions the required file is Windows8-RT-KB2756872-x86.msu as shown below:
- For 64-bit versions, the required file is Windows8-RT-KB2756872-x64.msu as shown below:
- When prompted, save the file to your Desktop. The file may take a while to download, depending on your internet connection.
- Double-click the downloaded file. The installation will begin.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
- When the installation is complete, restart your computer.
