BankLink Notes and BankLink Practice

The numbers in this error can change depending on the BankLink software versions.

This error can occur when:

  • importing a BankLink Notes file into BankLink Practice
  • importing a BankLink Practice file into BankLink Notes, or
  • opening a file in BankLink Notes.

BankLink's suite of products have to be on the same version to be able to interact with each other. If they are not then various error messages will appear depending on the software being used. In the case of this error message it is because BankLink Practice and BankLink Notes are on incompatible versions.

Solution

Update the BankLink product the error occurred in.

 

If the error occurred in BankLink Notes

If the error occurred in BankLink Notes then you will have to upgrade BankLink Notes.

To upgrade BankLink Notes

  1. Open BankLink Notes and click on the Help option on the top right.
  2. From the Help menu click on the Check for Updates option.
  3. This will produce the update wizard. Click on the Check for Updates options. The software will check BankLink's servers for the latest updates.
  4. When the latest update appears tick update and click Download.
  5. Once downloaded you will be prompted to install. Click the Install option and follow through the prompts.
  6. Once done close out of BankLink Notes and start it up again. You will now be on the latest version at which point you can try to import your file again.
If the error occurred in BankLink Practice

If the error occurred in BankLink Practice, you will have to upgrade BankLink Practice.

To upgrade BankLink Practice

  1. Open BankLink Practice and click on the Help option on the top right.
  2. From the Help menu click on the Check for Updates option.
  3. This will produce the update wizard. Click on the Check for Updates options. The software will check BankLink's servers for the latest updates.
  4. When the latest update appears tick update and click Download.
  5. Once downloaded you will be prompted to install. Click the Install option and follow through the prompts.
  6. Once done close out of BankLink Practice and start it up again. You will now be on the latest version at which point you can try to import your file again.

If you upgrade BankLink Practice all other clients that you communicate with that use either BankLink Books or BankLink Notes will have to upgrade their software to match the BankLink Practice version.
