BankLink Notes

To email an accountant from BankLink Notes, the email settings will need to be configured.

To configure email

  1. In BankLink Notes, click Send to Accountant.
  2. Click Settings (in the top right corner).
  3. If using Microsoft Outlook:

    1. Select Use Microsoft Outlook. Make sure Outlook has been set as default email program under Control Panel.

    2. Click OK.
  4. If using internet mail:

    1. Select Use this Application.

    2. Enter Name and Email address.

    3. Enter the Outgoing Mail (SMTP). This information is available from the Internet Service Provider (ISP).

    4. Enter the Port Number. This is typically 25 but you can also find this information online or by phoning the ISP.

    5. The last section asks for Authentication. Most of the time this is not needed so try it first without authentication ticked. However, some ISPs require this therefore you may need to enter your internet account name and password.

    6. Click OK.

Using web based email?

Free Internet based emails such as Gmail, Hotmail and Outlook.com may not integrate with BankLink Notes. Clients can contact the email provider to obtain the SMTP and port number information and follow the steps above. If this does not work, the user needs to save the BankLink Notes file on the computer under File > Save As in BankLink Notes and email it to the accountant as an attachment using internet mail.
