As an MYOB Atlas user, you're entitled to a free .co.nz domain name for one year. You can also purchase more domain names and link them to your website. For information about domain names and domain name variants, see About domain names (web addresses) and extensions. Or, for help with choosing a domain name, see Choosing a domain name.

Registering your free .co.nz domain name

To register your free .co.nz domain name, follow the steps below.

Please be careful when choosing your free domain name, as you'll be unable to edit it once it's registered. If you're not happy with the free domain name you've registered, you'll need to register an additional domain name at your own cost.

  1. Click Get free domain name in the Things to do toolbar.
  2. On the Get free domain name page, you'll need to complete the following steps:
    • Enter your mobile phone number. First, you'll need to enter your mobile phone number. MYOB Atlas will SMS a 6-digit verification code to this number to verify your identity. Code hasn't arrived after 5 minutes? Email atlas@myob.com
If you enter the wrong phone number, you'll be able to get your verification code sent to a different number by clicking the Use a different phone number button that will appear.

    • Enter the verification code. Once you've received the verification code, enter it in the Verification code field that will appear and click Verify.

    • Claim your free domain name. You're now ready to claim your free .co.nz domain name. To continue, click the claim your free .co.nz domain name link that will appear.

  3. On the Get free domain name page, you'll see that a suggested domain name appears in the search box. If you:
    • want to claim this suggested domain name, click the Claim now button. Note that if the suggested domain name is not available to be claimed, a message will appear. In this case, you'll need to search for a different domain name.
    • want to claim a different domain name, enter the domain name you want to claim in the Search for a domain name field and click Search. Click the Claim now button that will appear if this domain name is available.
  4. On the Domain name registration details page, you'll see the following sections:
    • My shopping cart: review this section to confirm that you've chosen to register the correct domain name.
    • Registrant contact information: this section contains the contact information you've provided MYOB Atlas, which will be used to register your domain name.
    • Terms of Use: you must read and accept these to continue.
  5. Once you're finished, click Continue.

You've now submitted a domain name registration request for your free .co.nz domain name. It will take a few hours for your domain name to become active. After that, your .co.nz domain name will become your website's primary domain name, which means that you and your visitors can use this new web address to access your website.

Purchasing a domain name

To purchase a domain name and link it to your website, follow the steps below.

  1. Click Add a domain name in the Things to do toolbar.
  2. On the Add a domain name page, enter the domain name you want to register in the Search for a domain name field and click Search.
Available domain names will appear in the Available domain names section. If the domain name you searched for appears in the Unavailable domain names section, you'll need to try searching for a different domain name.

Once you've found an available domain name and selected the duration, click Add to cart next to it, and then click Continue at the bottom of the page.

If you want, you can purchase multiple domain names in the same transaction.

  4. Once you're finished, click Continue.
  5. In the Enter a New Payment Method section of the payment page, enter your credit card details and address, and then click Enter & Select.
If you've made a payment before, your credit card details will have been saved. Just click the Select button in the Select the Current Default Payment Method section to pay with this credit card.

You've now submitted your domain name registration request. It will take a few hours for your domain name to become active. After that, you can make this domain name your website's primary domain name. For more information, see Setting your website's primary domain name.

How do I change the registrant contact information for my domain name?

The registrant contact information for your domain name is the information that your domain name registrar (the company who you registered your domain name through) uses to contact you, the registrant. If your domain name is registered with MYOB Atlas, your registrant contact information—including your registrant email address—will be the same as the contact information for your MYOB Atlas account (that is, the contact information MYOB Atlas uses for all communications with you).

To update this contact information, click My account on the Settings menu, then click Edit account information in the Account information section and make your changes.

This will update both your registrant contact information (for any domain names registered with MYOB Atlas) and the contact information for your MYOB Atlas account.
