If you've received an email or in-product message that your MYOB Essentials file (or if you're an MYOB Partner, your client's files) will be upgraded soon, here's some things you should do before the upgrade to help make it go smoothly.

What you need to do depends on the features you currently use in MYOB Essentials.

Before you're upgraded

Before you're upgraded you should check:

• the bank reconciliation for any saved bank recs and complete them
• (MYOB Partners only):
  • Check users. When a file is upgraded, all current users will get access to the upgraded file. So we recommend that you review your contacts and remove those that don't need to access the file – see Users (Partner Dashboard).
  • If you have restricted client files, you should control access to restricted clients before upgrade.

Using MYOB Essentials with Payroll?

Before the upgrade, if you:

• have any saved pay runs, finish them
• use YourPay, check that your employees have completed and saved any timesheets
• pay employees electronically, ensure that all of their banking details are complete and that the Account description has been entered only in capital letters
• use MYOB's super portal to pay employee super and:
  • you're due to make a super payment, complete and process the contribution file
  • would like to download your super records, find out how.

What happens after the upgrade?

When you open the new MYOB Essentials it will look similar to the old MYOB Essentials, but there's a lot that's new to learn. So, when you open the new MYOB Essentials we'll step you through the changes.

There will also be help topics and other support to help you get used to the new product.
