Requesting a digital signature Complete the following fields in the Request a signature dialog

Digital signatures can only be requested if the client has a portal.

  1. Open the form and click Request a signature at the top right of the form.
  2. Complete the following fields:
    • Assign to – this is the name of the contact person at your client's business
    • Title – this is a subject line that can include the type of BAS form and period
    • Description – a message that requests a review and signature from the client. This is pre-filled with default text that includes the details of the
  3. return
    • form – you can edit this text if you want to.
    • Due date.
  4. Click Request a signature at at the bottom of the dialog.
    This sends the return to the client. The message "Return has been successfully , and the form will be sent to the client for signature" displays at the top of the form.
The .

Note that the approval task that's created for the client will inherit the default “send as” and “notify” settings that are set up in the client’s portal.

 When you receive the signed return from the client, the message "Signature received. Return is ready to lodge" displays

To request a manual signature

  1. Open the form and click Request a signature at the top right of the form.
  1. Click Request manual signature at the bottom of the Request a signature  dialog.The message "This return has been sent for manual signature. When you receive the signed return, click on Mark as signed" displays at the top of the form.
    The status changes to Pending signature to show that you've sent the return to the client. 
  2. Click Download at Click Download at the top of the form.
    This creates a PDF of the returnform. Save the PDF file to your computer.
  3. Send the PDF to your client by either email or post, or by handing it directly to them.
  4. Request the client to review, sign and send the return form back to you.

Once you've

completed the form, the process of approving the return or activity statement involves a few simple steps

added and validated a form, here’s how to get client approval and to lodge it:

  1. Finalise the
return
  1. form, so that the ATO can do a pre-lodgment check.

Click Finalise at If the return , and the form status will change to Completed.
If the form is rejected by the ATO, the message "ATO has rejected the return" displays at the top of the form. There will be a list reasons why the return was rejected – you'll need to edit those fields to correct the errors.

  • Click on the Edit button If there are any validation issues, click Edit at the top right of the form to correct any validation messages.
    When you have corrected all the problem fields identified by the ATO, finalise the return , make the required corrections, then finalise it again.

    After validating the form to check that you’ve entered all the mandatory information, the next step is to send the form to the ATO to do a more thorough check.

    1. Open the form and click Finalise at the top right of the form.
      The button changes to to Finalising... while while the return form is being sent to the ATO for validation.
      When the return form has been sent, the message "Return has been sent to the ATO for validation" displays at the top of the form.

    Click Request a signature at the top right of the formBefore you can lodge a completed form, you need to get the client’s approval. This can be a manual signature, where the client physically signs a paper form, or electronically, where they give their approval online with a ‘digital signature’.

    If you’ve set up a portal for a client using MYOB Practice, you can either request a digital signature, or download a PDF of the form for the client to sign manually.

    A portal is a secure, online space that only your clients and the people you nominate can access.

    If the client doesn’t have a portal, they can only sign the form manually.

    To request a

    signature from a client, there are two options, depending on whether they have a Client Portal:
    • client has a Client Portal set up – see "Request a digital signature", below
    • client does not have a Client Portal – see "Request a manual signature", below.

    You only need to manually mark a return as signed if you requested a manual signature from your client.

    After requesting a signature, you’ll need to wait for them to digitally or manually sign the form before you can lodge it.

    • For digital signatures: When the client approves the form in their client portal, you don’t need to do anything to acknowledge the approval - the status of the form will automatically change to Ready to lodge

    approves the return in the Client Portal

    • For manual signatures: When your client has signed the
    return,
    • form, you need to open it and click Mark as signed at the top right of the form.

     If your client wasn't happy the client rejected the form (for digital signature process) or refused to sign the returnform, you'll need to go back and edit it.open it, click Edit, and make the necessary changes. You can then resend the form for approval.

    After you receive the client’s signature, you can lodge the form with the ATO.
     

    1. Open the form and click Lodge at the top right of the form.

    2. The Lodge dialog displays.
    3. Click Lodge at at the bottom of the dialog.
    4. The button changes to to Lodging... while while the return form is being sent to the ATO.
    5. When the return form has been sent, the message "... has a message will display at the top of the form to let you know it’s been lodged with the ATO" displays at the top , and the status of the form ans the status is set will change to Submitted.

    If the ATO then rejects the returnform, the message "ATO has rejected this Activity Statement" displays at the top of the form and the status is set to Rejected. When You’ll need to fix the issues that have been found before you can lodge it again.

     If the ATO accepts the returnform, the message "ATO has accepted this Activity Statement" displays at the top of the form and the status is set to Lodged.
