As an administrator, assigning roles to your staff lets you control their MYOB Practice privileges. There are two kinds of staff role:

  • The General role lets a staff member do accounting tasks in MYOB Practice.
  • The Administrator role lets a staff member change all MYOB Practice settings.

When you add a staff member to MYOB Practice, they're assigned a General role by default.

You can also control what your staff can access in MYOB Practice by:

If you're an MYOB partner

You can manage staff roles in MYOB Practice if:

  • you don't use MYOB AE/AO
  • you already have an Administrator role.

If no one in your practice has an Administrator role, you need to contact MYOB Support.

You can control which staff can access MYOB Practice by adding or removing staff.

To assign a role to a staff member

Only staff members with the Administrator role in MYOB Practice can give roles to other staff members.

  1. On the left of MYOB Practice, click Settings and choose Staff.
  2. From the list of staff, select the staff member that you want to give a role to.
  3. On the top right of the page, click Manage role.
  4. Under Roles, select a role from the drop-list. The role is displayed in the Roles section.
  5. Click Save.
To remove a role from a staff member

Only staff members with the Administrator role in MYOB Practice can give roles to other staff members.

  1. On the left of MYOB Practice, click Settings.
  2. Under Access management, click Staff.
  3. Select the staff member from the list of staff.
  4. On the top right of the page, click Manage role.
  5. Under Roles, click the remove icon () on the role you want to remove.
  6. Click Save.

If you use MYOB AE/AO

As an administrator, you can see which members of your staff have access to MYOB Practice. To see a list of these staff members, click the Settings icon on the left of MYOB Practice and choose Staff.

If you want to assign an Administrator role to a staff member, you need to contact MYOB Support.

If you see someone in the list who no longer works at your practice, you need to make them inactive in MYOB AE/AO.

You can also restrict access to MYOB Practice from MYOB AE/AO.
