About this process/compliance....

Before you begin
Make you've synced your AE/AO contacts into MYOB Practice and that you have your tax agent IRD number and client list number on hand.

Set up your practice

To set up your practice for Compliance, you'll first need to add your tax agency into your MYOB Practice settings.

This ensures that we can connect to Inland Revenue to file tax returns and download your client's Inland Revenue transactions.

To add an agency
  1. In MYOB Practice, click Settings on the left of the page.
  2. Click Agency details.
  3. On the right of the Agency details page, click Add agency.
  4. Complete the fields:

    • Agency name—enter a name for the agency.
    • Agency IRD number—enter your 9-digit tax agent number.
    • Client list number—enter the client list ID. You can find this number in myIR.
    • Agency address (optional)—the physical address of the agency.

  5. Click Add. The agency appears in the Agency details list.

Set up a client

Now that your practice is all set up, you're on your way to preparing your first tax return.

You'll now need to choose the first client you'll prepare a tax return for online, and configure their compliance settings. This ensures the right type of tax return, with the right details, is created for your client.

You'll need to do this for each client you prepare a tax return for.
