Before you can file the tax return, you'll need to review and approve the tax return.

Once someone in your practice has approved the tax return, the Send to client button appears on the top-right of the page, meaning you can now send the return to your client.

If you're a sole practitioner or are preparing, reviewing and approving the tax return yourself, you'll still need to review and approve the tax return. This process updates the status of the tax return from In progress to Ready for client, then to Pending client signature.

To review and approve the tax return
  1. In the Tax return page, click Send for Review. The Approve all and Send for rework buttons appear and the status of the tax return changes to In Review.
  2. If someone else will be reviewing the tax return, let them know that it's ready for their review.
  3. If you're happy with the tax return and it's ready to send to your client, click Approve all. The tax return status changes to Ready for client and the Send to client button appears.

Approving a tax return will lock the return so that no further changes can be made.

  4. If further changes are required, click Send for Rework to update the status of the tax return back to In progress.
To send a tax return to a client manually

  3. Download a copy of the tax return.

    1. In the Tax return page, click Download documents.

    2. Select Tax return & schedules. A PDF copy of the tax return downloads and saves to a location on your computer.

Not sure where it went? Check your Downloads folder.

  4. Attach the PDF tax return to an email or print and mail the tax return to your client.
  5. Once your client signs the return, in your client's Tax return page, click Client approved and signed. The tax return is Ready to file.
