Full time to part time (or vice-versa)

When an employee changes from full time, part time or casual, in many cases you can continue using the same employee card. Simply change the Employment Status in the card and ensure all other payroll details are correct.

But your scenario might be a little more complicated. For example, the employee's pay basis (hourly or salary), leave or other entitlements might change. This may require a final pay including unused leave—which may have tax implications.

If you're not sure what the employee is entitled to under their new arrangment, the Fair Work website is a good place to start. You might also need some expert advice on the tax implications of paying out unused leave.
