Sometimes things don’t go to plan and AccountRight is unable to complete a task. Usually a message appears explaining the cause of the problem and how to fix it. However, if the cause can’t be identified, you’ll see the following message:

For errors like the one above, you can:

Restart AccountRightThere's a button on the error that does this for you, and often this fixes the issue.
Check for a solutionUse the link on the error message to view a help topic about the error and how it can be fixed. Some errors are strange beasts with no obvious causes, so there won't always be a help topic available.
View error details

Click View error details on the error to open a log file containing technical details of the error. If the option Send MYOB the details is selected on the error message, these are the details which are sent to MYOB for analytical purposes.

This is also where you'll find the specific Code associated with your error. Here's an example:

The following help topics have more information about some of these errors:

Error: System.NullReferenceException

Error: DataException (10000)

Error: System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeException

Try the Community ForumThe Community Forum is a great place to find information about errors - and a whole lot more. It's possible someone else has encountered the same error as yours, and the Community has come to the rescue with a solution. If not, why not register for the Forum, then you can ask the Community for help - they're a pretty helpful bunch.
Ask MYOB for help

Sometimes we all need a helping hand. Before you contact us, it'll really help us investigate your error if you can:

  • Click View error details on the error message. This creates an error log containing technical information about the error.
  • Try to remember what you were doing when the error occurred. Recording a sale? Printing a report? This is very useful information.

See What if I need more help? for our contact details.
