If you work online, using AccountRight on a new computer is as easy as installing the software. You'll then have access to your online company file from the new computer.

If you use personalised letters, Microsoft Excel templates, or BASlink (Australia only), there are some files you'll need to copy onto the new computer.

In the table below, note the following:

  • <user> refers to the Windows user name, such as John.Smith
  • For the AccountRight Server Edition, replace <user> with Public
  • Replace 20XX.X with your AccountRight version, such as 2015.3

This location is the same for both PC and Server Edition.

To move AccountRight from one computer to another, complete the following:

On the first computer

  1. Create a backup of your company file.
  2. Copy the backup file onto an external storage device, like a USB drive.
If you use any of the functions listed above, you'll also need to copy the associated folders onto the external storage device.

On the second computer

  1. Install AccountRight.
  2. Copy the files from the external storage device.
    1. Copy the backup file onto the Desktop (to make it easy to find).
    2. If you copied additional files from the first computer, copy these to the applicable folders (see the table above).
  3. Restore the backup
