Do you need to complete this task? You don’t need to activate a company file that you created online, have created for testing purposes or any file you no longer enter transactions into.

Activating your company file verifies you have a legal installation of AccountRight. Why it's necessary.

You can use a file for 30 days in trial mode. If you don’t activate it within 30 days, the file will become read-only, which means you can open, view, print and export information, but you will not be able to enter new information into the file until you activate it.

Activation limits

The number of company files you can activate depends on your software licence.

If you're using AccountRight Basics, Standard or Plus you can activate one company file. For AccountRight Premier you can activate two company files.

Additional company files

You can buy additional company files to use with AccountRight. For pricing details, check our website (click the FAQ tab Australia | New Zealand.

To buy additional company files or add online services to another company file, please call MYOB on 1300 555 151 (Australia) or 0800 60 69 62 (New Zeland).

Before you begin

Before you can activate a company file, you need to know your product serial number, and have registered your software.

 

To activate a company file

To activate a company file

  1. Open the company file to be activated and sign on. The Activation Assistant appears.

  2. Click I use this company file to record or edit my business transactions, then choose an activation option:

    Activate Online (Recommended)
    1. Ensure you are connected to the internet.
    2. Choose Activate Online and then click Next. The Details window appears.
    3. If you have not previously entered your serial number, type it in the Serial Number field.
    4. Click Activate to activate the file.
    Activate by Phone (Business hours only)

    You can activate by phone during business hours, however, wait times may apply. We recommend you use this option only if you cannot activate your file online. Note that you will still need to be able to access an activation licence file via email to activate by phone.

    1. Select the Activate by phone option and click Next.
    2. If you have not previously entered your serial number, type it in the Serial Number field.
    3. Call MYOB on the phone number displayed above the Serial Number field and request a licence file to be emailed to you.
      In Australia call 1300 555 151, or in New Zealand call 0800 60 69 62.
    4. Once you have received the email, detach your licence file and save it to your computer (for example, your desktop).
    5. In the Activation Assistant, click Browse next to the Select the licence file to load field, to locate the licence file.
    6. Select the file and click Open.
    7. Click Activate to activate the file.
  3. Close the assistant.

Deactivating a company file

If you've activated a file in error or have an old file you no longer need, you can deactivate the file by calling MYOB on 1300 555 151 (Australia) or 0800 60 69 62 (New Zealand).

You will be able to open a deactivated company file in read-only mode, but you won't be able to save any new information.
